I've seen a few posts on setting up Google+ to post to twitter, but none on how to get push notifications working for iOS- that is until we have a native app...

I use an app called boxcar for push notifications, and combining this with Gmail's filters allows you to get push notifications for any web app that can notify you via email.

First, set up boxcar by downloading from the app store and following instructions to setup withyour Gmail account. This involves instructing Gmail to send a copy of any messages your recieve to your secret boxcar address, which in turn pushes it to your phone.

Now, you have Goolge+'s email notifcations pushing to your phone, but you still have the massive inbox clutter that such notifications produce.

To stop this, setup a filter in Gmail. Go to Gmail settings:

Then, choose filters...

and create a new filter:

Set it to pick up all emails from 'Google+', and for these emails 'skip the Inbox'.

Now these emails will be kept away from your Inbox, but they will still be pushed to your phone.

Alternatively, if you don't want push emails but you go want push G+... Ignore Boxcar's instructions to set up your email forwarding, and setup your Google+ filter to skip the Inbox and forward a copy to your secret Boxcar address.

I hope this helps people using the iPhone to keep up to date with their messages on Google +.
